EMERGENCY STRAY DOG RESCUE BY THE GREEKS. HELP REQUIRED

The Greeks to Rescue Romanian Dogs. Can anyone assist in their transportation efforts. Please pass on.

My name is Socrates and I am an animal welfare activist-volunteer from Greece. 

Actually, a group of volunteers by their own or/and in collaboration with Greek animal welfare associations are trying to save Romanian dogs in the death row, for which there is a foster home or a family to adopt them and can travel (Microchip, Passport, X days of Quarantine). We, volunteers, are deseperetivly looking for transport companies traveling from Romania to Greece that can handle this. Right now, as far as I know, a cargo with 24 dogs is on the way to Greece. The transport cost (E2800) is solely covered by volunteers. The volunteers from the Greek mission who visited Romanian shelters (Braila, Galati, Ianka) have established a list with 800 dogs able to travel (number of dogs to be confirmed). We are looking 1) for transport companies that can handle live animals transport to Greece in a fair price. Please spread this message; for information that can lead us to such companies.2) Animal welfare associations that would like to help financially in this effort and organize a cargo transport. One Good Man in Romania.

From Help a Good Man and His Dogs 

We live in a material world. Most of us run after material possessions. Kindness is often lost. Many would walk by a homeless dog and do nothing. One man who didn't is this one. The story demonstrates the kindness of a man who had nothing. His dogs though loved him. Those who are assisting him tell his wonderful tale. It is a tale from the streets of Romania. A simple tale that teaches us something about the world we live in and how we should all help those who are vulnerable and in need. 

"I brought some hot food for him and for dogs. He thought that the dogs suffer beside of him and accept to give they for adoption.Just one dog he want to keep it. His name is Marcel Badoi from Moreni City,County Dambovita,near from Bucharest about 100 km distance, and he living on the streets with 5 dogs that he takes in care. Have 57 years old and he worked as a firefighter 22 years,not have a pension or a monthly income because he still hopes to work in a company. Because of the age, his disease(have diabetes,defect in speech and kidney problems from the cold) and his appearance nobody hires. His only income are plastic bottles collected from the trash and he sell them for a few bucks. I never saw to drink alcohol or begging money from the people. Four years he lived in a monastery,but he left from many reasons.it seems not all believers are good people. Relatively have no family to help him.Have a nephew who is gone away. He have a ground where he built a house arranged from cardboard with no heating, no water, no door to the house ,without furniture and bed. The 5 dogs are in the same condition like him,they follow him wherever he goes. He rescued a dog from a man who beat him and left to hungry.He decided to offer 3 euro for the dog to save him from the pain. THIS IS THE TRUE STORY OF HIS LIFE"

The Greeks have always been brave. They decided not to accept Romania's decision. They have decided to do something about the situation. This is the latest news.

Romania update:

We are going by bus. When? Most likely end of the week, depending on who and how many want to join us.

The cost for the bus ticket will be paid for by Erietta Kourkoulou.

You will have to plan for 1-2 nights in Romania and your food costs. (I imagine a 100 - 120 Euro budget to be very generous)

For people who cannot afford hotel or hostel accommodations, please indicate so - we will do our best to find for you private accommodations with volunteers.

Total duration of the trip 3-4 days.

Projected traveling dates Thursday afternoon - Monday morning return at the latest.

You will need sturdy shoes, comfortable clothing.

Those of you who will want to assist in street rescue with local rescue groups at night - please take leather gloves and "your equipment" with you.

Goal is to support local animal rescue organizations and activists in Romania, as well as to send a clear message that the European Citizens WILL NOT stand by and let this happen!

WE ARE THE PEOPLE! WE ARE THE EU! IT IS OUR MONEY that is used to kill these dogs!

WE WANT it to be SPENT DIFFERNETLY! NEUTER NOT KILL!
